BEP20 Wallet & Network Knowledge Base
Everything you need to know about BEP20, Binance Smart Chain, and how your crypto moves securely
What is BEP20?
BEP20 is a token standard used on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC). It defines how tokens behave, how they can be transferred, and how wallets and applications interact with them. BEP20 is similar to Ethereum’s ERC20 but runs on Binance’s faster and cheaper blockchain.
USDT, BUSD, USDC and many other cryptocurrencies use the BEP20 standard on Binance Smart Chain.
How BEP20 Works
When you send BEP20 tokens, the transaction is processed on Binance Smart Chain. Your wallet signs the transaction, then the blockchain confirms it and updates the balances.
- You send USDT (BEP20) from your wallet
- The Binance Smart Chain validates the transaction
- BNB is used to pay the network fee
- The receiver gets the USDT in seconds
Typical transaction time: 3–5 seconds
Typical fee: $0.05 – $0.20
What is a BEP20 Wallet?
A BEP20 wallet is a wallet that supports Binance Smart Chain. It can store, send, and receive BEP20 tokens such as USDT.
BEP20 wallet addresses always start with:
Example: 0x3f8CBcB1c4B0e8f3dD5A9B7f8bA9C5aA6F3f4E9C
BEP20 vs Other Binance Networks
| Network | Speed | Fees | Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| BEP20 (BSC) | Very Fast | Very Low | Best for USDT transfers, DeFi, DApps |
| BEP2 (Binance Chain) | Fast | Low | Older Binance network, limited DeFi |
| ERC20 (Ethereum) | Slow | High | Ethereum ecosystem |
| TRC20 (Tron) | Fast | Low | Cheap USDT transfers |
Important Safety Rules
- Only send BEP20 tokens to BEP20 addresses
- Never send ERC20 or TRC20 tokens to a BEP20 wallet
- Always keep BNB in your wallet to pay transaction fees
- Wrong network = lost funds
How to Get a BEP20 USDT Wallet Address
To receive USDT on the BEP20 network, you must have a wallet that supports Binance Smart Chain (BSC). This wallet will give you a BEP20 address that starts with 0x. This address is what you share when someone wants to send you USDT using the BEP20 network.
Step 1 – Choose a BEP20 Compatible Wallet
First, you need a wallet that supports Binance Smart Chain. The most commonly used wallets are:
- Trust Wallet
- MetaMask
- Binance Wallet
- SafePal
- OKX Wallet
These wallets are free and can be installed on your phone or computer.
Step 2 – Enable Binance Smart Chain (BSC)
Some wallets, like MetaMask, require you to manually enable Binance Smart Chain. This connects your wallet to the BEP20 network. Once BSC is added, your wallet will be able to receive BEP20 tokens such as USDT.
When Binance Smart Chain is enabled, your wallet will automatically generate a BEP20 address.
Step 3 – Find Your BEP20 Wallet Address
Inside your wallet, select the Binance Smart Chain network and click “Receive”. You will see a wallet address that looks like this:
This address is your BEP20 wallet address. You can use this same address to receive USDT, BUSD, and all other BEP20 tokens.
Step 4 – Add USDT (BEP20) to Your Wallet
Some wallets do not show USDT by default. You may need to add it manually. In your wallet, search for USDT and make sure you select the version labeled:
Once added, your wallet will display your USDT balance when someone sends you BEP20 USDT.
Step 5 – Use Your Address to Receive USDT
When someone wants to send you USDT, give them your BEP20 wallet address and tell them to use the BEP20 (BSC) network. After they send, the USDT will appear in your wallet within a few seconds.
Always double-check that the sender is using the BEP20 network. Sending from a wrong network will permanently lose the funds.
